The Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5500i offers two- and five-band processing in a 1HE rack unit at a very affordable price. Everything in this processor is about getting great sound quality, regardless of size or source. The extreme versatility of the 5500i allows you to adjust your timbre knowing that your sound quality will remain optimal. Of course, the Orban 5500i can also be used as a stereo encoder. Ideal for example when you need processing on multiple sites to correct the possible “overshoots” created by the STL.
The 5500i comes at no additional cost including a dynamic RDS/RBDS encoder and can be controlled via the front panel and via an ASCII server. linked to your radio automation, title, and artist. The Orban 5500i has a 10 MHz reference input that allows the pilot tone to be locked to GPS or any other high-quality frequency standard. This promotes the performance of frequencies in areas that overlap.
With the 5500i, your chosen timbre is just a pre-selection away. one simple, “Less/More” button makes it easy to adjust a factory preset. This can prevent annoying “artifacts”. The built-in stereo coder, AES/EBU digital inputs and outputs and analog I/O makes it easy to connect to any site. It doesn’t matter if the Orban 5500i is in the studio or on site.
Finally, if the Orban 5500i is not in the studio, you will like that there are three options to operate the 5500i remotely. This can be done via GPI, RS232 and the TCP/IP. The serial and Ethernet ports are operated through the included PC Remote Control application
